“Mustaschkampen” is a nationwide campaign to highlight prostate cancer, Sweden's most common cancer form, and raise money for research and advocacy. All funds raised goes to the Swedish Prostate Cancer Foundation.
There are 10 000 new cases of prostate cancer in Sweden every year. The cancer is curable if detected in time and therefore Mustaschkampen urge all men over the age of 45 to take a PSA test, which is a simple blood sample taken at a health center.
“Mustaschkampen” is organized by the Swedish Prostate Cancer Federation in cooperation with 27 regional associations and with support from 8 major partners and close to 500 companies/organizations. The campaign starts November 1 and continues throughout the year.
In November there will be a focus on mustaches. During that time, as a fun part of the campaign, many men grow a mustache to draw attention to prostate cancer and its severity. For those who do not grow a mustache themselves there are fake mustaches for sale together with a new Father's Day needle and mustache reflexes.
